The APC Presidential Campaign Council says its 2027 campaign will focus on the achievements of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration rather than making fresh promises or attacking individuals.
The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, disclosed this in Gusau after a closed-door meeting with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and traditional leaders in the state.
Yari said the 2027 campaign would be issue-based and centred on what the APC-led administration has accomplished and what it intends to do if given another opportunity to govern the country.
He said Nigeria had passed through several difficult periods that raised concerns about the country’s survival, but Nigerians had continued to demonstrate their commitment to keeping the nation united.
According to Yari, the APC’s campaign would not be about making fresh promises but about highlighting the administration’s achievements.
He also described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a leader committed to Nigeria’s development and said the President had demonstrated his love for the country.
Yari said his first official engagement as Director-General of the campaign was with traditional leaders because they remain close to the people and play an important role in society.
He said seeking their support and blessings was important to the success of the campaign.
Governor Dauda Lawal said the meeting with traditional rulers was organised to formally present Yari, a Zamfara indigene, following his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Lawal said the engagement was aimed at seeking the support of the traditional leaders ahead of the 2027 election.
The governor also assured the APC Presidential Campaign Council that President Tinubu would receive full support from the people of Zamfara State in the 2027 election.
The development comes as political parties and their candidates begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
