Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North says the APC will reclaim power from the Labour Party in the next general elections.
Political activities are gradually gaining momentum in Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared his readiness to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) takes over the state.
The former Abia State Governor made this known during his annual New Year visit to the Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Kalu said he is prepared to deploy all political resources at his disposal to secure a decisive victory for the APC in Abia State, currently governed by the Labour Party.
“I will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate. I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC records a landslide victory in Abia State,” he said.
While acknowledging his personal relationship with the incumbent governor, Dr. Alex Otti, Kalu stressed that his focus remains firmly on politics and the success of the APC in the next elections.
“Governor Alex Otti is my friend, but politics is politics. What matters to me is the total victory of the APC in Abia,” he added.
The senator also charged state governors across the country to take full responsibility for securing lives and property in their respective states, rather than leaving such duties solely to the Federal Government.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor, Kalu said Abia State experienced a period of relative peace and security under his leadership, with minimal cases of kidnapping and violent crime.
He commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for maintaining peace and stability in the state, urging other governors to emulate his approach to governance and security.
Kalu further explained that his yearly visit to the Ebonyi APC chairman was rooted in long-standing loyalty and trust, describing Okoro-Emegha as a dependable ally.
“He is a man of loyalty and integrity. I have known him since childhood and watched him grow politically. He has remained faithful to every leader he has worked with, including former Governor David Umahi and the current administration,” Kalu said.
