Former Deputy Senate President continues prison sentence in Britain

The United Kingdom has rejected Nigeria’s request to repatriate former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the UK for organ trafficking.

Ekweremadu was convicted in Britain and remains incarcerated, despite appeals from the Federal Government of Nigeria seeking his transfer to serve the remainder of his sentence at home.

The decision underscores the UK’s strict stance on criminal convictions and extradition policies, particularly in high-profile cases involving serious offences.
