Shettima Arrives In India to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, where Nigeria is expected to strengthen its diplomatic, economic and strategic engagement with participating countries.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading a high-level Nigerian delegation to the summit, which brings together leaders and representatives to discuss global economic cooperation, development, multilateralism and other international issues.
The 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit is being held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
The theme reflects the group’s focus on strengthening cooperation and building more resilient economic and diplomatic relationships among member and partner countries.
Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria continues to deepen its engagement with BRICS countries and other emerging global economic powers.
The summit programme includes discussions on inclusive global governance and multilateralism, as well as bilateral engagements involving participating leaders and representatives.
Members of Nigeria’s delegation include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani; and Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal.
Nigeria’s participation is expected to provide an opportunity for the country to strengthen existing diplomatic relationships and explore new areas of cooperation with participating nations.
Areas of interest include trade, investment, technology, innovation, economic development and broader international cooperation.
