Umuahia, Abia State – The City Boy Movement in Abia State has formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 general elections, unveiling a comprehensive youth empowerment and political participation strategy aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and federal access for young Nigerians.
This declaration was made at the Movement’s first Town Hall in Umuahia, where youth leaders, women representatives, grassroots coordinators, and stakeholders from all 17 local government areas assembled to launch statewide youth mobilization for Tinubu’s candidacy.
Strategic Endorsement
Chinedum Orji, Patron, and Lucky Igbokwe, State Director, led the gathering. Igbokwe’s keynote underscored the endorsement as a calculated move to secure sustained development, unity, and regional relevance for Abia’s youth.
“Progress isn’t achieved through noise; it comes through active participation. For Abia to secure federal inclusion, infrastructure, and youth opportunities, we must organize at the grassroots and present a unified voice,” he said.
Igbokwe stressed that the Movement’s support is not driven by sentiment but by structured planning. He also emphasized that youth empowerment must move beyond rhetoric into measurable action, including institutional programs and federal engagement opportunities.

Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, also addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of disciplined engagement and peaceful mobilization. “Our people deserve infrastructure, jobs, and opportunities. Achieving these requires strategic political action, not conflict,” he said.

The Town Hall also outlined plans for:
- Active participation in the National Convention on May 13, 2026, in Owerri.
- Strengthened ward and LGA structures to prepare for the 2027 elections.
- Long-term youth development initiatives that link empowerment with peace and prosperity.
Hon. Ogbonna Ukuku, representing Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Okezie Kalu, reaffirmed the Movement’s collective support for President Tinubu.
Background
Founded in 2022 as a grassroots support group, the City Boy Movement takes its name from President Tinubu’s nickname. The group is influenced by Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, who serves as Grand Patron. Recent nationwide restructuring, including appointments of state and diaspora directors in early 2026, has strengthened the Movement’s readiness for the 2027 elections.
