The minister has not issued any public reaction to the warning as of press time.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has issued a formal warning to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, over public remarks he allegedly made about internal party issues and political aspirants.
In a letter signed by the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and circulated on Friday, the party leadership expressed concern that Ata’s recent comments could trigger unnecessary tension and division within the party ranks.
According to the letter, the minister was cautioned for making media statements on party matters without authorization—remarks the APC described as “uncomplimentary” and potentially misleading.
The party emphasized that only designated officials are empowered to speak on internal affairs.
“You are not assigned any public relations role within the party, and such comments may be wrongly interpreted as official party positions,” the letter stated.
While noting that Ata is free to support any aspirant of his choice, the party reminded him that, as a serving member of the Federal Executive Council, he carries an additional responsibility to promote unity and cohesion among party members.
The letter further warned that repeated unauthorized public statements could attract disciplinary measures from the party.
Copies of the correspondence were also sent to key political stakeholders, including President Bola Tinubu, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, North-West Zonal Vice Chairman, and other senior party officials.
As of the time of filing this report, the minister has not publicly responded to the warning.
